ABOUT
VANITAS
Vanity has always been part of human existence, but in today’s society it seems to have reached new extremes. We resemble young birds, forever hungry, forever yearning to be filled. In our age, vanity is deeply bound to the pursuit of youthfull perfection and the illusion of control.
Yet beneath this superficial layer of vanity lie feelings of loneliness and insecurity, for perfection does not exist. It is our humanity—our flaws, imperfections, and unique characteristics—that truly make us compelling.
In the Vanitas series, we see symbols of beauty, seduction, and transience reflected in pearls, snakes, eggs, and birds—motifs often revisited throughout art history. Yet in our own century, the true face of vanity is centered on the malleability of our bodies and faces.
